Ba Gua Acupuncture can help to achieve complete body harmony and balance.
Ba Gua literally translates to ‘eight signs’ and refers to the eight trigrams which are used in Taoist cosmology to signify the fundamental interrelated principles of reality.
Each Ba Gua sign has a connected partner which works as an opposite. The Ba Gua pairs influence and relate to each other. This principle extends to anatomical parts of the body, where all parts are harmoniously connected, and all parts have an inverse or an opposite influencing sign.
Chinese medicine focuses on the healthy flow of the body’s energy (known as qi) and preventing it from becoming obstructed or stagnant. In parts of the body which are experiencing pain, the natural flow of qi has been affected.
How does Ba Gua Acupuncture work?
Ba Gua Acupuncture works using this idea of balance. Once the problem area is established, the form of the Ba Gua is followed which seeks to treat the opposing balancing point of the affected area.
For example, for knee pain, acupuncture may be required in the elbow to treat the knee pain, as both of these parts of the body are opposing balancing points. Other points include hand and foot, and shoulder and hip.
This Ba Gua balancing principle can help to reinstate healthy energy flow and to alleviate pain.
What are the benefits of Ba Gua acupuncture?
Ba Gua Acupuncture is highly successful in providing pain relief. It is most commonly used for musculoskeletal problems, including back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and knee pain. However, it can be used to restore balance, encourage circulation and manage pain relief anywhere on the body.
